Stacee Santos

Former Postdoc

Stacee’s research explores how language influences children’s development of numerical concepts. She is particularly interested in understanding how the variability of deaf and hard of hearing children’s access to language may impact the development of both symbolic (e.g., counting, arithmetic, fractions) and non-symbolic (e.g., approximate number system) number concepts.  Stacee hopes her research will help demystify the role language plays in numerical cognition while providing useful information for educators to minimize the disparities in math abilities seen between children with and without hearing loss.
